Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (20 July 2009)—Rolf von Roessing, CISA, CISM, CGEIT, retired partner and now senior external advisor at KPMG Germany, was elected international vice president of ISACA—a nonprofit association serving more than 86,000 IT governance, assurance and security professionals in 160 countries—at its International Conference in Los Angeles, CA, USA, today.
Founded in 1969, ISACA develops international standards for information systems auditing and control, provides education and training, and administers the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) designations. Additionally, ISACA publishes COBIT—the internationally accepted framework for IT governance best practices—and Val IT, a tool set for unlocking the value of IT and managing IT-enabled business change.
Von Roessing also reassumes the role of trustee of the IT Governance Institute (ITGI), ISACA’s research affiliate established in 1998 to help enterprise leaders ensure that IT supports the enterprise’s mission and goals.
“As ISACA embarks on a new strategy to further enhance the organization and continue its success and growth, the strong leadership and vision of leaders such as Rolf are vital,” said Emil D’Angelo, CISA, CISM, international president of ISACA and the IT Governance Institute (ITGI). “We have relied on his expertise as a valuable asset to the continued strength and accomplishments of ISACA and look forward to his future contributions.”
In addition to working at KPMG, von Roessing has consulting experience with large international banks and insurance companies, where he directed projects for business continuity management and information security. He is a former member of the Board of the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) where he served from 2001 to 2008, and where he held the Chair of the Audit Committee between 2003 and 2007.
Von Roessing has served on ISACA´s Security Management Committee and chaired the working group for ITGI’s IT Control Objectives for Basel II publication. He currently is a member of ISACA’s Framework Committee. He has published extensively on business continuity management, disaster recovery and security matters.

In addition to von Roessing, seven other IT professionals were elected to ISACA and ITGI leadership positions. Emil D’Angelo, CISA, CISM, senior vice president of corporate data security, Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ, NJ, USA, was elected international president. Reelected as vice presidents were George Ataya, CISA, CISM, CGEIT, CISSP, professor at Solvay Business School, Belgium; Yonosuke Harada, CISA, CISM, CAIS, executive director, InfoCom Research Inc., Japan; José Angel Peña Ibarra, CGEIT, partner, Alintec, Mexico; Robert Stroud, CGEIT, vice president of service management and governance for the service management business unit; CA Inc., NY, USA; and Kenneth L. Vander Wal, CISA, CPA, partner (retired), Ernst & Young, IL, USA. Also newly elected vice president was Ria Lucas, CISA, CGEIT, manager, Investment Management Group of Telstra Corporation Ltd., Australia.
Three directors were also appointed to ISACA’s board: Greg Grocholski, CISA, senior finance director, Dow Chemical Co., MI, USA; Tony Hayes, CGEIT, AFCHSE, CHE, FACS, FCPA, FIIA , executive director, Service Delivery and Performance Commission, Australia; Howard Nicholson, CISA, CGEIT, business analyst, City of Salisbury, Australia. Jeff Spivey, director, Security Risk Management, NC, USA, was appointed trustee for ITGI.
