An online survey carried out by vacant property management experts SitexOrbis www.sitexorbis.comin collaboration with Estates Gazette has revealed how those managing vacant property prioritise their concerns.   The threat of empty property rating and increased costs of commercial sales and lettings have left this sector vulnerable to adverse market conditions. But when asked to choose the ‘top 3’ vacant property issues, 22% of 100 respondents chose security as their biggest problem. Ranking joint second in the list of major headaches were loss of rental income (19%) and empty property tax. A further 15% chose maintenance as one of their key concerns and 13% specified compliance with insurance stipulations.   The ‘credit crunch’ is bringing an increasing number of vacant commercial properties to the market.

December 2008 – For homeowners who need to sell before the end of the year, the online estate agent, (www.discountpropertyshop.co.uk) offers the best bet in this difficult period - when mortgage possession orders in the UK are twenty-four percent higher than this time last year. The organisation, which only deals with buyers who are ready to proceed quickly, is currently selling properties at more than four times the national average.*

Mark Brogan, Managing Director of www.discountpropertyshop.co.uk comments:

“As the country plunges deeper into recession, more homeowners will need to sell quickly, whether because they can’t afford the mortgage payments and need to avoid being repossessed, are relocating, or for other financial reasons. The economic conditions mean that people who are prepared to drop the price of their properties are more likely to attract buyers, enabling them to start the New Year free from the burden of owning property they cannot afford.”
