News Release: Lyrtech is Proud to Introduce the Quad TMS320C6713 / Dual Virtex-II-based SignalMaster

Lyrtech inc. (TSX Venture: LYT), worldwide specialist in digital signal processing (DSP) development technologies, today unveils a new member in its SignalMaster family of products: the Quad TMS320C6713 / Dual Virtex-II-based SignalMaster.

This high-performance platform allows the development of a much broader range of applications. It will help Lyrtech's customers in the development of their high end oriented applications such as advanced wireless processing (3G, 4G), software-defined radio, phased-array (or smart) antennas, digital radio, GPS receivers, base stations and radar applied to the commercial, industrial as well as military contexts. 'We can now provide our digital signal processing solutions to a larger range of customers, helping them develop their high-end applications and reducing their time-to-market and development costs. 'said Louis N. Belanger, Executive Vice-President, Product Development Manager and founder of Lyrtech.

The Quad TMS320C6713 / Dual Virtex-II-based SignalMaster consists of four TMS320C6713(TM) digital signal processors from Texas Instruments Incorporated and two Virtex-II(TM) FPGA from Xilinx, Inc.

The demand for increased complexity and higher bandwidth DSP systems is driving the need for high performance and flexible prototyping solutions. The key features of the new Quad TMS320C6713 / Dual Virtex-II-based SignalMaster are:

- Up to 3.6 Gflops of DSP power and 16 million gates on the FPGA, for a very high combined processing capability- Numerous user programmable I/O pins for interconnection with various I/O modules. These I/O pins are directly connected to the FPGA allowing very high bandwidth and sampling capabilities (above 1 GHz).- Compliance with a number of key industry standards, such as PICMG 2.16, 2.17, StarFabric, etc.- Unique and complete integration with Simulink(R) from The Mathworks, inc. and System Generator (TM) for DSP from Xilinx.
The Quad TMS320C6713 / Dual Virtex-II-based SignalMaster is available in two configurations, cPCI and stand-alone. As a CompactPCI board, the Quad TMS320C6713 / Dual Virtex-II-based SignalMaster can be installed in a cPCI card-cage industrial computer, in single or multi-DSP card configurations. A version of the product is also available as a stand-alone unit, packaged in a 3U rack-mountable housing, including power supply and additional on-board features such as PC/104 expansion sites, 586-class Elan microprocessor, 100 Mbps Ethernet, and more.

The SignalMaster line of products includes more than 50 hardware and software solutions. Lyrtech continues to position the SignalMaster as a leading-edge DSP tool by offering digital signal processing solutions dedicated to different markets such as wireless telecommunications and software radio (GSM, GPRS, CDMA, 3G/4G, etc.), Voice-over-IP systems, high-precision control devices &instruments, and electro-optics, all applied to commercial, industrial and military contexts.
