Long Beach, Calif. (March 2, 2004) – First Consulting Group, Inc. (FCG) (NASDAQ: FCGI) announced today the launch of Version 3.0 of FirstDocTM, a leading enterprise content management (ECM) solution suite in the life sciences industry. The newest version offers functional, usability and navigation enhancements designed to solidify its market-leading position in the industry. The FirstDoc solution, built on the Documentum ECM platform, has been selected by six of the top 10 Pharmaceutical companies1, many of which are implementing the solution as the ECM standard across their enterprise. FirstDoc is the cornerstone of FCG’s array of consulting, technology and outsourcing services that are designed to help life sciences leaders improve return on investment at all phases in the drug development lifecycle. FirstDoc is the core technology that provides an unified platform for managing content across all business functions, including R&D, clinical trials, manufacturing, marketing and sales and medical information communications.
FirstDoc is the only suite of solutions in the life sciences industry that offers full enterprise functionality in an out-of-the-box, regulatory compliant solution. FirstDoc delivers ECM functionality specific to the life sciences industry without the need for costly customisation.
FirstDoc 3.0 offers significant usability improvements designed to significantly improve the user experience while performing their job functions by providing greater ease of navigation and simplification of application functions. FirstDoc Enterprise Platform Migrates to Webtop
The FirstDoc Enterprise platform, the foundation layer for the suite of FirstDoc functional enterprise content management modules, has migrated to the latest version of the Documentum Webtop user interface (Version 5.2.2), providing the system with greater Web-based flexibility and overall navigational improvements that are more intuitive and user-friendly. Since the FirstDoc Enterprise platform is the foundation upon which the functional applications are built and delivered, the new enhancements benefit all FirstDoc modules. In addition, FirstDoc had several new functionality additions, including the ability to create documents through the use of virtual document templates, to transition multiple documents to a new lifecycle state, and to further align the web and desktop client interfaces, allowing an organisation to choose which to deploy.
The FirstDoc Enterprise suite provides a comprehensive, scalable, end-to-end solution for the creation, version control, security and life cycle management for content of all types, including Web information, documents, records, e-mail and digital assets. FirstDoc is compliant with 21 CFR Part 11.
FirstDoc Product Suite – Functional Upgrades
• FirstDoc R&D 3.0 - manages all documentation worldwide that is used to support both the R&D process and drug applications to regulatory agencies. FirstDoc R&D eases the regulatory submission process and enables efficient management of the content required for a submission, in the early IND phase through post marketing, to regulatory agencies. FirstDoc R&D includes a content organisation design that reflects current ICH guidelines and helps facilitate a CTD or eCTD submission through tight integration with industry-leading publishing tools. In addition, FirstDoc R&D now offers application number aliasing to further reflect the real business process of tracking an application number from the start of the submission preparation process through the actual assignment by the regulatory agency.
• FirstDoc GMP 3.0 manages all facets of manufacturing and quality documentation, shortening document review, approval and release time. FirstDoc GMP is scheduled to be released shortly and will take full advantage of the improvements in the FirstDoc Enterprise platform.
