News Release: Star Diamond Project - Bulk Sample Progress Report

Kirsten Marcia, Exploration Manager, is pleased to report on the progress of the bulk sample program on the Company's Star Diamond Project, located in the Fort a la Corne area of central Saskatchewan. This program is designed to recover a parcel of at least 3,000 carats of diamonds to enable an accurate valuation of the stones. The program involves the sinking of a 4.5 metre diameter vertical shaft and the drifting to recover up to 25,000 tonnes of kimberlite. To date, Layne Christensen Canada Limited has completed 18 freeze holes drilled in a circular pattern having an approximate 12-foot radius from the shaft centre. Two additional outlying temperature-monitoring holes will also be completed this week. Calgary based Gyrodata Services Canada Inc. will complete the down-hole surveying allowing calculations to be made for the total time necessary to establish the freeze wall. Additional freeze holes may be required in order to compensate for down hole deviation which could lengthen the total freeze duration currently estimated at one month.

The Cimco freeze plants and compressors, supplied by Thyssen Mining Construction of Canada Ltd., are currently arriving on site with installation commencing next week. Once the shaft collar has been constructed, the freeze plants will be tied in and the initial pre-sink will occur. The installation of the headframe, hoists, suspension of the Galloway stage and cryderman mucker, and the remainder of the required infrastructure (workshops, storage areas etc.) will be completed during the establishment of the freeze wall. Once the freeze wall is completed, excavation of the lower shaft will commence.

Sterling Concrete &Hauling Ltd. has delivered 800 cubic yards of aggregate to be used in the batch plant that will supply cement for the shaft liner. Additional aggregate deliveries will be made as required. Cement pads for the shop and freeze plants have already been poured, with construction of the shop building to begin this week. Heavy equipment and generators will also continue to be mobilized over the upcoming weeks.

General site construction and preparation for shaft sinking is well underway. The work area has been fully cleared and site levelling is almost complete. Camp accommodations and office trailers supplied by Williams Scotsman of Canada Inc. were delivered to site two weeks ago and are currently being readied for full use in early May. Security gates and perimeter fencing of the project area has begun and will be completed in stages.
