News Release: Aecon's Industrial Division Awarded Two Contracts Totalling $31 Million

Aecon Group Inc. (TSX: ARE) today announced that its Industrial division has been awarded contracts by Toyota Tsuho Canada and Syncrude Canada totalling $31.3 million.

Under a joint venture with Precise Finishing Systems, J&R Design Systems of Detroit and IEC Japan, Aecon Industrial will design and install a paint mix and circulation system for Toyota Canada's new Lexus paint shop in Cambridge, Ontario. As the lead partner in the joint venture, Aecon Industrial is responsible for the coordination and management of the design, fabrication and installation of this project. The work will be completed early in 2003. Aecon Industrial has also been awarded a contract by Syncrude Canada to fabricate 400,000 diameter inches of pipe spools for the UE-1 upgrader expansion of Syncrude's oil sands project in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Syncrude will use this pipe for the refining of heavy oil. This project will be completed by October 2003.
