WestJet reports third quarter net earnings of $71 million, up 80 per cent

Airline achieves earnings per share of $0.52, an increase from $0.28

WestJet (TSX: WJA) today announced third quarter net earnings of $70.6 million, or $0.52 per diluted share; up from the net earnings of $39.3 million, or $0.28 per diluted share, reported in the third quarter of 2011. These financial results mark WestJet's 30th consecutive quarter of profitability. Based on the trailing twelve months, the airline achieved a return on invested capital of 12.7 per cent, up from the 11.4 per cent reported last quarter.

Curtiss-Wright Announces Definitive Merger Agreement With Williams Controls

Leading Provider of Highly-Engineered Electronic Sensors and Throttle Controls for Vehicles in Industrial and Military Markets to Be Acquired by Innovative Engineering Company

Curtiss-Wright Corporation ( NYSE : CW ) and Williams Controls ( NYSE MKT : WMCO ) jointly announced today that they have entered into a definitive agreement that provides for the merger of Williams Controls with a wholly-owned subsidiary of Curtiss-Wright. Williams Controls is a leading designer and manufacturer of highly-engineered electronic sensors and electronic throttle controls for off-road equipment, heavy trucks, and military vehicles. The acquired business will operate within Curtiss-Wright's Motion Control segment.

Hertz and Dollar Thrifty Announce Definitive Merger Agreement
 
Hertz Global Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: HTZ) and Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Inc. (NYSE: DTG) today announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement under which Hertz would acquire Dollar Thrifty for $87.50 per share in cash in a transaction valued at a corporate enterprise value of approximately $2.3 billion.

The combination of Hertz and Dollar Thrifty will create a global, multi-brand rental car leader offering customers a full range of rental options through its strong premium and value brands.  The boards of directors of both companies have unanimously approved the transaction.

Cargojet Announces Strong Second Quarter Results

Cargojet Inc. (the "Corporation") (TSX: CJT, CJT.A) announced today financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2012.

For the Second Quarter Ended June 30, 2012:

    Total Revenues were $40.5 million, a decrease of $0.7 million or 1.7% versus the previous year.
    Gross Margin was $7.2 million, a decrease of $0.7 million or 8.9% versus the previous year
    EBITDA was $4.5 million, an increase of $1.2 million or 36.4% versus the previous year

SkyWest, Inc. Announces Second Quarter 2012 Results

SkyWest, Inc. ("SkyWest") (SKYW) today reported operating revenues of $937.2 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2012, compared to $933.7 million for the same period last year.  SkyWest also reported net income of $17.0 million, or $0.33 per diluted share, for the quarter ended June 30, 2012, compared to $1.6 million of net income, or $0.03 per diluted share, for the same period last year.

Quarter Summary
SkyWest's operating and financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2012 reflected a significant improvement compared to the same period of 2011.   SkyWest generated increased operating revenues resulting from increased incentive payments under its contracts with major partners primarily as a result of better on-time and completion factor performance.
