Augen Gold samples 5.62 grams per tonne over 13.38 metres at Jerome

Augen Gold Corp. (\"Augen Gold\" or \"the Company\") (TSX-V:AUJ) today provided the final results from its winter drill program and new assays of previously un-sampled archival drill core from the former Jerome Gold Mine.

Highlights of the results include:

- Assay results from previously un-sampled archival drill core returned 13.38 metres of 5.62 g/t gold and 15.61 metres of 4.57 g/t gold in two separate holes. Included in these intersections were intervals of 1.77 metres of 30.23 g/t and 1.92 metres of 21.1 g/t gold respectively.

- These assay results are consistent with nearby holes and occur above the 198 metre level. This area represents a mineral deposit which is close to the surface and readily accessible by standard mining methods. \"These excellent results again show that the mineralization is high grade. It is close to surface and could be relatively easy to access. The wide intersections also raise the possibility that a portion of the mineralization may have open-pit potential,\" said Michael Fowler, President and CEO, Augen Gold Corp. \"We will be looking into all potential mining scenarios once we have completed a resource estimation on the Jerome Mine property in the coming months.\"

Results are shown below.

    * sampled by Osprey;      (xx) previously reported in Prospectus;
In 2004, Osprey Gold Corp. completed 5724 m of diamond drilling in 33 drill holes at the Jerome Mine. The core was logged geologically but holes JX04-29 to JX04-33 remained un-sampled at the time that the program was terminated, and other core marked for sampling was not tested. Osprey\'s drill program was designed to test the Main Zone above the 650 foot level (198 m), in order to establish vertical continuity of mineralization between levels, east of the mined areas in an area previously explored by drifts on the 200, 350, 500 and 650 foot levels (60, 107, 152 and 198 m). Hence this area represents a potential resource that is readily accessible and close to surface. Assays from holes JX04-29, -30 and -31 are consistent with results from nearby holes drilled by Osprey and previous operators. Holes JX04-29 and JX04-30 were drilled on the same section and intersected the Main Zone at vertical depths between 80 and 155 metres. They lie 30 m east of Augen Gold\'s drill hole AG-04-02, which was reported previously (June 20, 2008, 15.13 g/t Au over a core length of 8.35 m). Hole JX04-31 was drilled 30 m east of holes 29 and 30, and intersected an alteration zone of similar width to that observed in hole JX04-30, but with lower gold grades.

Drill holes JX04-20 and 21 tested the Main Zone 90 metres west of holes JX04-29 and -30. The results shown above are from additional core sampling below that sampled by Osprey, and probably represent the North Main Zone - a splay from the Main Zone.

The final set of results from Augen Gold\'s winter drilling program have been received, and the highlights are shown below. These two holes show relatively low grade intersections:

Holes AG08-18 and AG08-20 are respectively the westernmost and easternmost holes of the winter drill program, and were drilled from the ice on Lake Opeepeesway.

Hole AG08-18 tested a magnetic feature thought to represent the possible strike extension of the Jerome Mine Main Zone. Two narrow intersections of anomalous gold values were intersected. The westward continuation of the Main Zone was intersected by hole AG08-17, previously reported on July 18.

Hole AG08-20 made several intersections of low grade gold and locally high grade molybdenum mineralization. The intersections all occur in porphyry, and represent the eastern continuation of the pyrite-rich zone which lies south of the South Zone.

Sample Processing

All core was photographed, measured and logged geologically and geophysically. Alteration zones and significant quartz veins or sulphide-bearing intervals are marked for sampling and sawn in half. Standards and blank samples are inserted at regular intervals. Half of the sawn core is retained and half taken directly by Augen Gold personnel to ALS Chemex\'s preparation laboratory in Timmins. There, it is crushed and pulverized and pulps forwarded to Chemex\'s analytical laboratories for gold assay and multi-element trace geochemical analysis. Random samples are riffle split after crushing and each pulverized split is analysed. Gold is determined by fire assay AAS on 30 gram charges. Samples reporting more than 10 g/t Au were re-analyzed by the Fire Assay-gravimetric method to produce the reported values, also using 30 gram charges. Trace elements are determined using a four-acid \'Total digestion\' followed by ICP. Drill core is stored in core racks at the Jerome Mine site and Camp Gilla.

The estimated true widths of the vertically-dipping mineralized zones are estimated between 70 and 30% of the core length, according to the inclination of the drill hole. Composited grades have been calculated using a cut-off of 0.1 g/t Au. Sample lengths of Augen Gold core are 1.5 m or less; Osprey samples range from up to 2.0 m. Grades have not been capped.
