Organisations planning the roll out of enterprise collaboration strategies must implement new policies and procedures in three critical areas of the business if they are to be successful.

According to WTG, a business IT consultancy focused on the delivery of innovative web based solutions for the public and commercial sectors, the three core areas that need re-engineering in advance of any collaboration project are human resources, IT and user training.

Companies Rank Top Seven Tech-related Business Issues for Next 12-18 Months

5 August 2008 – VEGA, a Finmeccanica company, has been awarded a three-year contract with a potential two-year extension, by the European Space Agency’s Centre for Earth Observation (ESRIN). It is worth €3.45m during the first year, with a total value of €9.6m over the first three years.

The IDEAS (Instrument Data quality Evaluation and Analysis Service) consortium, headed by VEGA, will provide an operational service to monitor the quality of Earth Observation instrument data from ESA satellites and some external missions. Specific tasks include the detection of space and ground segment anomalies and trends, the provision of scientific and technical support to users of Earth Observation instrument data, and the maintenance and evolution of the various instrument data processing facilities. In addition, the service will provide a flexible and scalable environment to support future EO missions and technology.

Nonvolatile SRAMs Ideal for Use in Secure Data Storage Applications For Embedded Systems

Programmable solutions leader Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE:CY) and Simtek Corp. (Nasdaq:SMTK), the world\'s leading supplier of nonvolatile static random access memory (nvSRAM) integrated circuits, today announced that they have reached an agreement whereby Cypress will acquire Simtek in an all cash transaction for $2.60 per share of Simtek common stock, or an aggregate value of approximately $46 million (including the value of Simtek shares held by Cypress).

The transaction will be structured as a cash tender offer for all of the outstanding shares of Simtek common stock and is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals. The transaction is expected to close in or prior to the fourth calendar quarter of 2008.
