Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (21 July 2009)—Ria Lucas, CISA, CGEIT, a manager with the Investment Management Group at Telstra Corporation Ltd., Australia, was elected international vice president of ISACA—a nonprofit association serving more than 86,000 IT governance, assurance and security professionals in 160 countries—at its International Conference in Los Angeles, CA, USA, today. Founded in 1969, ISACA develops international standards for information systems auditing and control, provides education and training, and administers the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) designations. Additionally, ISACA publishes COBIT—the internationally accepted framework for IT governance best practices—and Val IT, a tool set for unlocking the value of IT and managing IT-enabled business change.

Ms. Lucas also assumes the role of trustee of the IT Governance Institute (ITGI), ISACA’s research affiliate established in 1998 to help enterprise leaders ensure that IT supports the enterprise’s mission and goals. “As ISACA embarks on a new strategy to further enhance the organization and continue its success and growth, the strong leadership and vision of leaders such as Ria are vital,” said Emil D’Angelo, CISA, CISM, international president of ISACA and the IT Governance Institute (ITGI). “We have relied on her expertise as a valuable asset to the continued strength and accomplishments of ISACA and look forward to her future contributions.”   Ms. Lucas has experience in internal and external IT audit and has also worked in various capacities in the IT field. She was a senior director of IT audit with the Australian National Audit Office before moving into audit and risk management in the telecommunications sector. In her current role, her focus is on IT investment management and governance.   A past president of the ISACA Melbourne Chapter, she has served as chair on the CISA Technical Education Committee and the CISA Certification Board. More recently, she has participated on ISACA’s Finance and Membership Boards (2007-2009) and is currently a member of ISACA’s Audit Committee. “I look forward to the opportunity to help lead ISACA and ITGI in their mission, helping IT professionals to ensure that their enterprise risks are controlled, information is secure and value is realized from IT-related investments,” said Ms. Lucas. “It is a pleasure to work with ISACA’s 86,000 constituents whose involvement and perspectives help ISACA continue to provide unmatched global certification, standards, training and research publications.” In addition to Ms. Lucas, seven other IT professionals were elected to ISACA and ITGI leadership positions. Vander Wal, CISA, CPA, partner (retired), Ernst & Young, IL, USA. Also newly elected vice president was Rolf von Roessing, CISA, CISM, CGEIT, partner, advisory practice of KPMG Germany.
