Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq:BRCM - News), a global innovation leader in semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications, and NetLogic Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq:NETL - News), a leader in high performance intelligent semiconductor solutions for next generation networks, today announced they have entered into a definitive merger agreement.  Under the agreement, NetLogic Microsystems shareholders will receive $50 per share in a transaction of approximately $3.7 billion, net of cash assumed.

A long-time user of SiliconSmart, Open-Silicon upgraded to SiliconSmart ACE to leverage the tool’s proven ability to quickly and accurately characterize libraries for multiple process, voltage and temperature (PVT) corners which will enable them to maximize power savings and performance on advanced-node designs. Open-Silicon uses SiliconSmart ACE in particular for characterization of new cells created with its patented CoreMAX™ design-specific library augmentation flow and for library recharacterization for Open-Silicon’s VariMAX™ technology with back biasing.

Chrontel selected the Magma software after an extensive evaluation and benchmarking of the Titan-based flow against other EDA flows resulted in a 50 percent improvement in productivity.

Photronics Reports Record Revenues in Third Quarter of Fiscal 2011

Third Quarter Highlights:

    Record sales of $135.9 million; exceeds guidance of $128 - $133 million
    High-end IC photomask sales increase 24% sequentially
    Record non-GAAP net income of $16 million
    Non-GAAP EPS of $0.23; exceeds guidance of $0.17 - $0.21 per diluted share
    GAAP net income increases to $11.3 million, or $0.16 per diluted share
    Operating margin improves 90 bps sequentially
    Balance Sheet continues to strengthen
